Digital FAQ

  1. Can I continue to use ShowView when Analogue broadcasting ceases?

Yes you may continue to use your ShowView analogue recorder despite receiving your Digital Channels via a seperate Digital receiver. After entering the ShowView number when presented with the Timer screen you need to set the record preset to the external input (usually AV2) where your digital receiver is connected to. You then need to ensure that the external receiver is switched ON and correctly tuned to the correct channel. For further information do not hesitate to contact us at showview@macrovision.com

  1. I have recently subscribed to digital TV and I have been installed with a new Satellite/Cable/Terrestial box. Will I be able to use my handset with this device?

The handsets were designed many years before these receivers were designed and built and therefore they do not have the capability of controlling them. However there are now many ShowView Video Recorders that offer control of external receivers.

  • Follow the set-up for your Satellite/Cable box.

  • When the ShowView display shows 'VID CH-', tap in 00 and press 'SAVE'.
  • If this code does not appear to work try code 40, 50 or 90. However, there is no guarantee that these codes will work with your model of ShowView and your model of video recorder.
  • If you receive all your terrestrial channels via your Cable box - type 2 you need to leave your video recorder on this '0' or '00' channel and then on Standby before making a ShowView recording. Your handset will automatically return to the date.

  1. The 00 method with satellite receivers and cable boxes

Remember this could take up to 30 minutes.
Instead of tapping in the brand code for your Satellite/ Cable box tap in 00, press 'ENTER', wait and keep pressing 'ENTER' until your Satellite/ Cable box turns to channel 12. When this happens press 'SAVE'.
If your Satellite/Cable box fails to turn to channel 12 and the message END appears on the display screen, then you have exhausted all the possible set up codes. Unfortunately this means your model of Satellite/ Cable box is not compatible with your model of ShowView Deluxe handset.
